Roman Villa (Skala)

In 1957 a Roman villa of the 3rd century BC was discovered in Skala. The villa is decorated with exquisite mosaics, which were the work of the artist Krateros. According to research, the owner was a wealthy Roman since the villa had thermal baths. The ruins of a 5th century Doric temple dedicated to the god Apollo were found on the outskirts of Skala.

Poros

It has been confirmed that in ancient times passing ships to and from Italy, Sicily, or Malta called at a port in the Gulf of Poros.
In addition, a temple dedicated to the god Poseidon has been discovered in the same area, its mosaics can be admired in the archaeological museum of Argostoli.

Helmets (Argostoli)

The ruins of the ancient city of Krani (7th and 6th century BC), along with the famous cyclopean walls that protected the area, have been discovered on the shores of the picturesque lake of Koutavos. Also, the ruins of a Doric temple dedicated to the goddess DIMITRA, as well as the ancient inscription “Triopis Damatri and Kora” found 3km further east, give the area great archaeological value. Part of the findings can be seen at the archaeological museum of Argostoli.
